Sean Combs delivers Howard University’s 2014 Commencement Address.
In his address at Howard University, where he attended in the 1980s, Combs shared his HBCUstory, of friends who housed and fed him and of a professor who told him to follow his dreams. He also opened up about discovering that his father didn’t die in a car accident as his mother had told him, but that he had been murdered in a drug deal gone bad. The declaration was a surprise to most listeners, including it seemed, his mother.
Right there in that [Howard] library, I realized there’s nothing greater than a mother’s love and desire to protect her child.
